Agreement between ASICLAND and Agilesoda for AI Semiconductor Design Automation

ASICLAND, a system semiconductor design house(CEO Jongmin LEE), announced on 20th Jan. that it has signed an MOU(Memorandum of Understanding) for developing AI(Artificial Intelligence) semiconductor design automation and optimization solution with Agilesoda, a decision-optimizing AI company(CEO Daewoo CHOI).

Both companies agreed through this MOU to cooperate in developing the reinforcement learning-based placement automation and optimization solution and other areas where they can maximize their competitiveness related to AI semiconductor automation and optimization.

Through this agreement, ASICLAND expects to automate AI decision-making in the P&R (Place and Route) process, the backend process of semiconductor design, which should reduce engineers' repetitive manual tasks. In turn, this will result in a reduction in both time and costs involved in semiconductor design. Agilesoda will enhance chip design methodology by incorporating AI as part of its AI initiative.

Systems semiconducting are designed with macroblocks and memories with capacities up to hundreds or thousands, respectively, according to ASICLAND. In spite of the advanced design software, known as EDA(Electronic Design Automation), allowing placing it quickly, the simulation process still requires for back-end engineers to adjust the placement and verify for accuracy. It is expected that ChipNSoDa, the chip design automation tool, will address this issue.

Jongmin LEE, CEO of ASICLAND, notes “tetrising a limited area is becoming more challenging as semiconductors integrate and scale down, and thus AI semiconductor automation is a remarkable attempt to meet these challenges at a time when physical rules are being added.” In addition, he adds, "With Agilesoda's customized AI solution, we will achieve the best mutual results.”
